Connor John Schnell

6-19-1999 to 11-19-2007

Miracle
Connor was indeed a miracle. At birth he weighed 1 pound 15 ounces. He was only 14 inches long (yes, get out your ruler)! He was so small that Jeff's wedding band fit all the way up Connor's arm to his shoulder. The beanie baby in his crib was about the same size as he was. His determination at birth and throughout his life to overcome any obstacle was truly amazing. And it was always with a smile.
Gift
As parents, neither of us could believe that our hope of adopting would ever become reality. Despite Connor's premature birth, we knew he belonged in our family. He brought us so much joy and laughter. His desire to be involved in so many things spoke volumes of how much he wanted to do in his life. He wanted to try everything. His gift to everyone was of unwavering, unconditional love. He cared deeply for his friends, his teachers, his family, his mom and dad, and "Katie Marie John Schnell" his beloved cat. Connor was our gift from God.
Hero
On November 19, 2007 Connor passed away. Although our lives will never be the same, Connor has made a difference in the lives of so many people. Our decision to donate Connor's organs came very easily and we felt privileged to do so. To know that Connor's life would continue in some way helped us through many difficult times. So much of Connor lives on in others, whether it is through the gift of organ donation, friendships, sports, or family. Connor will always be our hero.
